Deadline Hollywood is reporting that avant garde Canadian director's Guy Maddin's new film has been picked up by Bleecker Street for U.S. distribution this year.
Cate Blanchett and Alicia Vikander lead the ensemble comedy.
Playback, the Canadian TV and Film industry trade magazine also ran a story. They did cite his work in La Femme Nikita. Yay!

Roy gave an interview in October 2023 where he mentioned the project. It was about to start production in Hungary. He'll be playing the Canadian Prime Minister. Roy previously worked with Guy Maddin in 2015's "The Forbidden Room"
Maddin has had films screen at Sundance (January), the Berlin Film Festival (February), SXSW (March), and the Toronto Film Festival (September). Given his status among Canadian filmmakers there's a good chance that the film will premiere at Toronto. Although with Blanchett and Vikander in the cast perhaps Cannes in May isn't too much of a stretch if the film is ready in time. If it doesn't compete for the Palm 'dOr it could still screen in Un Certain Regard. It's where Roy's "Being at Home with Claude" screened back in 1992.
Guy Maddin's Instagram post singles out Roy alongside Cate Blanchett and Alicia Vikander and describes him as "legendary Québécois thesp Roy Dupuis"

The film follows the seven leaders of the world’s wealthiest liberal democracies at the annual G7 summit after they become lost in the woods and face increasing peril while attempting to draft a provisional statement regarding a global crisis.
Also featuring in a top role in the pic, which recently wrapped production in Hungary, is Genie Award winner Roy Dupuis (Shake Hands with the Devil). Additional cast includes Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Denis Ménochet (Inglourious Basterds), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Knock at the Cabin), Rolando Ravello (Perfect Strangers), Takehiro Hira (Gran Turismo), and Zlatko Burić (Triangle of Sadness).
