I feel like I’ve struck gold. Definitely early Christmas vibes.

I recently got my hands on the script for the first episode of LFN as written by Cyrus Nowrasteh (dated February 22, 1996) and it is a trip. A major trip! It is so completely different from what made it onto the show that aside from the character names, it comes across as a different adaptation of the Luc Besson movie.

Hardly any of this script is the show as we know it. In his book "Inside Section One" Christopher Heyn recounts that over several years there were multiple script attempts to adapt the movie that failed to please Warner Bros. Evidently, this is the version (or close enough) that sold Warner Bros and USA Network to proceed with the series. Clearly that was a major accomplishment. It succeeded where so many others could not, but yeah, it was interesting and I'm so happy that I got to read it.
