For those living in Canada, Netflix has recently added the Quebec miniseries Les Filles de Caleb (Caleb's Daughters). Roy costarred in the 20 episode miniseries in 1990. Its huge popularity in Quebec increased his profile tremendously and made him a huge star in the province.

However, its introduction to streaming has had its share of controversy and that has been documented in the Quebecois media. The second episode of the series features a Christmas pageant put on by the local school. To depict one of the three wise men, Roy's character Ovila used blackface. Neflix has pulled that episode entirely from the service.
This has been met with disappointment, not only from Roy but his costar Marina Orsini as well. Given the 19th century rural Quebec setting of the story, they argue that historically, however inappropriate the practice is today, people of that time would have used blackface to portray those characters. They would have preferred that a disclaimer explaining the historical context preface the episode rather than having it removed.
