Roy Dupuis in À coeur battant

The first promotional shot of Roy Dupuis' spinoff series À coeur battant has been released. He will be reprising his role of Christophe L'Allier from the series Toute la vie (2019-2022) which ran for three seasons.

The series will broadcast on ICI Télé starting January 2023.

The Official Synopsis reads:

À coeur battant gravitates around the Center for the Prevention of Violence (CPV), a community organization that intervenes with violent men. It was set up to raise awareness among these men who have committed acts of violence against their wife, children, parents and even friends and colleagues.

The Center benefits from a first choice speaker: Christophe L'Allier. Psychoeducator by training, he volunteered before working for a similar organization, the Marie-Labrecque school, dedicated to young pregnant women. He chooses to engage in a new cause that affects him closely: violence in the family. He himself lived and made it live when he was a young adult. He has since made a long reflection on the subject and has managed to get rid of his springs.

Christophe adopts the following perspective: in cases of intra-family or conjugal violence, the aggressor is known, the victims are known, the escalation towards more serious gestures is predictable. He wants to teach men to see the gesture of too much coming, the word that will change their lives, the attitude that will ruin their relationship. He wants to discern why a man chooses fear, intimidation, blows to assert his rights, his point of view, his desires, his love. He chooses to intervene at the very heart of violence because he sees it as the hope of understanding it, making it understood and, ultimately, reducing it. A really titanic task!
